Matted and/or Neglected Coats
Excessive de-matting is a painful, time-consuming and costly procedure that causes extreme discomfort for your pet and can aggravate or cause skin problems and irritation, especially if there are moles, warts or skin folds trapped inside matting. Client is aware that neglect of the pet’s coat can be cause for problems after grooming, such as clipper/brush irritation. If Client’s pet does not remain calm and still, accidents can happen such as cuts, nicks, etc. from clippers or scissors. Heavy matting can also trap moisture near the pet’s skin which can cause mold, fungus, bacteria or skin irritations which were present prior to the grooming process. The effects of mat removal may include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasion, or failure of hair to regrow. However, if de-matting your pet is not a viable option, Splash N Wag will complete a “shave-down” of your pet’s coat. An additional fee will be applied for a shave down. It is a tedious process and requires intense focus to keep your pet as comfortable and safe as possible. A shave down of your pet may dramatically change your pet’s appearance and the hair will be very close to the skin. This may expose pre-existing skin conditions. Closely shaven pets are also susceptible to sunburn and should have sunscreen applied daily or kept out of the sun until their coat regrows sufficiently to protect their skin. Client is to be 100% responsible for the condition of the pet’s coat and will not hold Splash N Wag responsible in the event of an adverse effect of mat removal or shave down.
Proof of Vaccination/Veterinary Information
For the safety of your pet as well as our groomer, Splash N Wag will require proof of your pet’s current rabies vaccination and expiration date before we can commence any grooming service.
Safety/ Dog Behavior
Splash N Wag will work diligently to earn your pet’s trust. However, if you own an aggressive pet or a pet who has bitten someone in the past, we must decline grooming of your dog. If you falsely represent your pet’s behavior during the booking process for an appointment, we will discontinue (cut short) grooming services and Client will be responsible for the full grooming charge. Client will be held liable for any bites or any property damage caused by their pet(s). For the groomer’s safety as well as your pet’s safety, Splash N Wag reserves the right to refuse service in the event that a pet cannot be properly and safely handled.
Senior Pets and Pets with Health Issues
Grooming procedures can sometimes be stressful, especially for a senior pet or a a pet with health problems. Because senior pets and pets with health problems have a greater chance of injury, these pets will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort ONLY, in styles that will not add to the stress. Splash N Wag will not be held responsible for accident or injury to an elderly or health-compromised pet during their grooming session.

Occasionally, grooming can expose a hidden medical problem or aggravate a current one. This can occur during or after grooming and may require immediate medical attention. In the best interest of your pet, Client designates Splash N Wag as agent and understands that if Splash N Wag is unable to contact Client first, then Splash N Wag, at it’s sole discretion, may engage the services of a veterinarian at Client’s expense.
